La Soufrière

volcano eruption (SVG)

 On April 9 at 8:41 am La Soufrière Volcano erupted. The volcano is located to the north of the island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and had been inactive since 1979. To date, around 16,000 to 20,000 people have been affected on the island, and this number is expected to increase as the days go by

The Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) of SVG has shut down the water supply systems due to ashfall. The Government has indicated that water is the priority need and they will need support.
